As an independent not-for-profit organisation, BFMI is committed to upholding the highest standards of independence, integrity, and accuracy in all our research and campaigns.
We take pride in our commitment to research, which reflects the realities of the Balkan region, without undue influence from external pressures, funders, or political interests.
BFMI ensures that our research activities, publication and campaign efforts are done in good faith and contribute to the public good, grounded in factual information, objectivity and accountability.

All research and activities conducted by BFMI are entirely independent. The selection of research topics, methodologies, and conclusions are determined solely by BFMI’s Management Team based on rigorous standards of journalistic integrity and academic inquiry.
Our International Advisory Board, consisting of international journalists, industry and policy experts, oversee BFMI’s Management Team, ensuring that our research is up to the highest editorial standards and free from political bias.
We do not allow donors, sponsors, or any other third party to influence the substance or outcomes of our research.
Sponsored research from external partners will be fully disclosed. Contributions will be treated solely as input, without any obligation to act upon it in a manner that compromises our findings.

BFMI ensures that all research methods are transparent, ethical, and in line with international best practices. Data will be collected and analysed independently, and the findings will be presented without bias.
We employ peer review and consultation with external experts where necessary to ensure the quality and robustness of our research.

BFMI will make all key findings and supporting evidence publicly accessible, ensuring accountability and openness in our work.
