Teresa was the fifth Representative on Freedom of the Media at the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), bringing a wealth of experience in journalism, human rights, politics, and diplomacy to the Balkan Free Media’s International Advisory Board.
She previously served on the President of Portugal’s National Commission for Human Rights and held the role of Secretary of State of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.
With an exceptional understanding of European Union institutions and mechanisms, Teresa's expertise is informed by her tenure as Portugal’s Secretary of State for European Affairs and as Deputy Secretary General at the Union for the Mediterranean.
Teresa's extensive media experience offers her unique insight into the challenges faced by media professionals across Europe. She has championed media freedom as the former President of Portugal’s Institute of the Media, President of the Steering Committee on Mass Media of the Council of Europe, and as Co-founder and first elected President of the Executive Board of Obercom.
Her unwavering advocacy for independent and diverse media continues to shape the landscape of media freedom and human rights.
